Tips For Creating The Perfect Flatlay

Hey everyone happy Thursday sorry I haven't posted all week I've been pretty lazy this week I have to admit! In today's blog post I'm going to be sharing with you my tips for taking a good flatlay. If you follow me on Instagram @asiajade04 then you will know I decided to start a new theme recently. I wanted to put more effort into my account by really focusing on the content, filter and who I followed so I did a revamp to it.

I am loving it recently and lots of my friends have complimented me on it too. Flatlays are something which has recently become a thing in my opinion I just love creating them. Although they can take a lot of patience to get the perfect picture the outcome is very rewarding. I love a good flatlay and I'm currently obsessed with taking them so I try to take them as much as I can.

Natural Lighting
The best way to get a good photo in any case is by using natural lighting so I recommend setting your flatlay up close to a big window. If you have bad lighting in your house and you own studio lights these are just as good as I have used these solely many times. The top photo is an example of one that has been taken using natural lighting whereas the bottom is an example of the use of studio lights.

Clear Space
When creating a flatlay you should expect it to take up a lot of room unless you are using less than five products. However even when I am using a small amount of things I still like the area I am using to be clear. A good tip for this is just to move things out of the way while you take the photos then you can just simply move them back.

Another tip I would suggest is flooring if you have various floors in your house such as carpet, tile or wooden then use these to your advantage. Although consistency is great sometimes by having a different background is more appealing to your followers.

Be Creative
One thing which is important is be yourself go with the flow of what you feel. I always arrange things to how I think they would look good but I always end up changing them around until I feel comfortable with he way that it looks. It doesn't matter if you don't have an artistic bone in your body you will know when something looks good or not.

Use Props
This tip is a good one because it adds life into your flatlay now this doesn't have to mean you spend loads of money. You can easily pick up some cute wrapping paper from Paperchase for around £2-£3 per sheet. This can be placed on the floor and then the objects on top which creates a great background depending on the theme of the flatlay.

Some other props you can use are your ipad for example by placing a nice background on your ipad and then injecting that into your flatlay can add colour to the photo. Flowers are another thing which you can use these can be alive or fake it doesn't really matter.

Here are a list of props that you can use:
- Flowers (Fake or alive)
- iPad, iPhone, Computer
- Notebooks
- Jewellery
- Trays
- Candles

Stock up
I always like taking more than one flatlay at a time if I can then I have a few lined up on my phone in case I become super busy over the next few days and cannot take any photos. Although flatlays can take a lot of time to put together especially if there are a lot of things within the photo once you get the hang of it doesn't take that long.

Hidden Gems On Asia Jade (February)

Hey lovelies happy Sunday I thought I'd start a new series on my blog as over the past few years there has always been one or two series going on. Such as The Sunday Topic and Five Things Friday which have been a huge success on the blog.

This new series will be uploaded once a month and it allows me to share with you some of my old favourite blog posts from the past. I thought that it would give you the chance for me to show you some hidden gems on my blog.

This was one of my first ever blog posts here on Asia Jade and I had decided to put together a beginners make-up kit that I thought would be good for someone at that time. Of course I have learnt a lot since I have uploaded that blog post and I would change. I may do another one of these but in video form so keep an eye out for that.

The second blog post I'm going to be sharing with you is a review that I wrote up. I still use this lipstick however I did break it a few weeks back so I'm in need of a new one. I just love this shade it can be worn both in the Summer or Winter and it's a staple within my makeup collection.

This particular blog post has been a big success on my blog as lots of people find it hard to stay fit and healthy during the winter months. I have included information such as the right foods to eat how to stay motivated and places to find work out ideas. It's sort of an easy guide to keep those pounds down during these months as the cold can demotivate us a lot.

Review | I Heart Lip Lava Forgiven & Firestorm + SWATCHES

Hello all you lovely people I'm actually feeling rather sick today and I even left work early because I couldn't stand up for long without feeling incredibly sick. In today's blog post I'm going to be reviewing two of the I Heart Lip Lava's which I picked up recently.

These are the first ever products that I have picked up from the I Heart collection I love the packaging across the beauty range I think it's so pretty and Instagram worthy. As you guys will know recently I have really been in to Instagram so these fit perfectly in to a flatlay!! The I Heart collection is part of the Make Up Revolution brand however they have their own make up products within the brand itself.

There are five different colours for the lip lava's however I decided to only pick up these two as the other colours were purple, coral and a bright pink. They are all £2.99 each which is a reasonable price in my opinion I was happy paying that price as I loved the packaging as well. They are similar to the Too Faced Melts in the sense that they have a similar applicator.

These are so easy to apply with as they have a brush end this means you can apply it as if you were applying a lipstick. The shape of the brush makes it less likely that you will smudge it or get it wrong. They last a fairly good amount of time and you can easily put two in your bag to wear one in the day and on in the evening. The only downside I would say is that because they are quite pigmented they would take a wet wipe to take it off and not just a tissue.

The first one that I picked up is Firestorm which is a bright red colour. I have to admit this is my favourite out of the two and it definitely lives up to it's name. It's a perfect red if you don't feel like wearing a lipstick as it's super glossy and bold. I always love how red lipsticks make your teeth seem so white!

As you can see from the images above this colour doesn't suit me at all I did try it on the back of my hand before I bought it and I did actually think it would suit me. However it obviously doesn't but I still like it so I will make it work somehow by blending it with another nude lip product that I have.

Overall I'm glad that I added these two lip products to my collection as they are staple products in a sense. I am not disappointed about Forgiven not suiting me as I can easily make it work with another shade. Also as they are so reasonable in price I didn't waste a lot of money on purchasing it so I haven't lost a lot either. I definitely want to purchase more products from the I Heart Range as some of their face products look amazing!

Have you tried any of the I Heart Make-Up products?

How I Currently Deal With My Anxiety

Hey everyone in today's blog post I'm going to be updating you on my current anxiety situation and explaining to you how I am dealing with it on the days when it's above five out of ten.

First of all I'm going to explain what I mean by this when I had therapy for my anxiety around two years ago my therapist always made me say how anxious I was feeling that day on a scale from one to ten. One would be feeling completely normal and yourself whereas ten would mean you staying at home or having a panic attack because your anxiety was really bad that day.

Ever since finishing my therapy I always say to myself "On a scale of 1-10 how anxious are you feeling today?" If I'm feeling seriously anxious I usually cancel whatever I have going on and stay at home instead. This may be the worst thing to do but I would rather prevent a panic attack happening than having one in a public place where I feel helpless. I have found this really calming maybe it's just a mental thing but I find that by realising how anxious I actually am I can act upon it and try to bring it back down to a 3 or 4.

I chose this particular quote because happiness is something we all know about. However when you have anxiety there are two types of happiness one where you can feel what it's really like to be happy and one where it's sort of a blur because you're feeling anxious at the same time. Most days I wake up and say to myself today I am not going to be anxious I am going to have a day where I can feel, smell, hear, see and touch everything as if it's in HD.

I often forget that anxiety is a mental thing and that I can reduce it by telling myself that everything will be okay, you are not in any danger or there is no need to be anxious for instance. My anxiety currently is a steady pace of being controllable which is good as I have a lot going on.

Obviously because I have a lot going on it will peak at points but I've been using the same techniques that I know work for me to try and reduce the amount of panic attacks I have (So far in 2016 I have had 0!). The techniques that I use which I did speak about in my latest video on my anxiety (listed down below) are:
- Having a cold bottle of water with me
- Carrying chewing gum or mints
- Having some sort of reading material with me
- Watching my favourite movie or TV show when I'm having an anxious day
- Tidying up, blogging, watching YT videos (It focuses my mind on something else)

Anxiety is something I will probably always have I'm just hoping that as the years go on it will reduce and I will be able to really live my life to the fullest. Sometimes even the simplest things are incredibly hard for me such as going up to collect an award in an awards ceremony or carrying my tray of food from the counter to the table.

For the moment I'm taking my anxiety as it comes day by day I often know when I am more likely to feel more anxious (When I haven't slept well mostly). Days when I have tossed and turned the night before are often the hardest as it's a lot easier for my mind to become anxious. These days I have to concentrate a lot harder on telling my mind that everything is fine I often observe what's happening around me.

This is because if I see something that I know could trigger my anxiety I will try to avoid it. For example, yesterday on the tube a women looked like she was about to be sick which is something I cannot deal with. I am one of those people who will be sick to if I see someone being sick. Anyways as I was already feeling a little anxious because I was travelling on the tube I got off at the next stop and got on another train just in case she was sick.

I know it isn't her fault entirely but for me by taking myself out of that situation I know that my anxiety levels went down from a 8 to a 4 which is a big difference for me. After that I rode the rest of my train journey in a happy mindset without feeling really anxious.

If you wanted to check out some of the other blog posts/videos that I have uploaded in relation to my anxiety I will list them down below....

Review | Ted Baker Palette + Swatches

Happy Saturday I have been working today which has been the first time I've worked on a Saturday in ages I'm also working again tomorrow which will be super busy because of it being Valentines Day!!For today's blog post I have decided to talk about the Ted Baker face palette that I got for Christmas.

It came in a set which also had mascara, eyeliner, lipstick and nail polishes among many other things. It has almost become a tradition that I receive the TB make-up set each year now as I got one the year before as well. As you can see this particular palette has two blushers and a highlighter. These aren't as pigmented as the Make Up Revolution Spice and Sugar palette which you can see here. The highlighter is amazing though and looks so natural on your cheekbones.

As for the packaging I just love the rose gold theme and the huge mirror is a big bonus. It's definitely a great product to take away on holiday with you as it's a two in one meaning you don't have to carry a separate blusher and highlighter. However the only downside I found to the palette is when I started to use the palette they began to crumble slightly. I have never seen this before and I have to admit it is quite hard to pick up a lot of the powder on the brush or my finger unless I press quite hard.

Overall I really like the palette as it's quite convenient if you are staying over a friends house or on holiday however I do wish that the blushers were slightly more pigmented. I will be trying this palette out over the next few months just to give it a chance because you never know it may just need some tlc!!

Have you tried any of the Ted Baker make-up?

Useful Resources For Bloggers

Hey there happy Thursday well Thursday evening anyways which means that tomorrow is FRIYAY!! In today's blog post I thought that I'd share some of my favourite resources that I use when I am blogging. From books to videos to even an online blogging course you can definitely build upon your blog once you have read this blog post!!

The first resource is a course which has been specifically designed for bloggers. It was created and put together by the lovely Dana from The Wonderforest who will be featured later on in this blog post too. I have completed around 80% of this course however I have decided to go over it again as I really want to focus on improving my blog as a whole this year and not just the content.

The course itself is around $150 which is around £104 with the current exchange rate. To some this may seem cheap and to others this may seem incredibly expensive. However I believe that it is totally worth the price as it not only teaches you so much about how to improve and maintain your blog but it also allows you to learn from the course at any time (i.e it has no expiration date!!).

Some examples of the things you will learn on the course are building a following, RSS and Feeds, social media and SEO among many other things. Each section of the course is easy to understand and has many work sheets and diagrams to help you complete it.

Again this has been created by Dana it is a website solely created for helping other bloggers improve their blogs. Information such as how to add social media links, have a custom font, add categories or how to gain more Bloglovin followers can all be found on the blog. You could easily get lost within the website as there is so much information that you can read about then put into action on your blog!! I would suggest going onto this blog once you have gotten to grips with your own blog as running a new blog plus trying to improve it could become very overwhelming.

This is one thing I've only just started doing I have no idea why I have waited this long to do this but I have. When I search "Blogging" on Pinterest there are hundreds if not thousands of resources for your blog. I love to just sit down with a cup of tea and read a few of them there are so many different topics within blogging that you can find on there. I'm sure whatever you are looking for will be there somewhere as new posts are uploaded hourly.

Make Up Revolution Sugar & Spice Blush Palette + Swatches

Hey lovelies in today's blog post I thought I'd talk about my first ever Make Up Revolution palette. This one is a blush palette called Sugar & Spice which is only £6 I can't quite believe that for that price you get this amazingly beautiful palette with all these shades.

As you can see from the swatches the blushes are reasonably pigmented which is a good thing as you know the palette will last longer because you don't need to use as much!! I love the design of the palette as it's clean but also glamorous in a sense. The mirror is massive which makes it perfect for taking away with you on holiday.

I definitely want to pick up a few more of their face based palettes such as their radiance, highlight, cover and conceal, sculpt and contour palettes. They're all reasonably priced and follow the same design as the palette shown above. I can't wait to try each and every one of these blushes out and even combining some!! You will probably see this in future make-up tutorials over on my channel so keep an eye out for that!!

Have you tried this palette out??

A Few Of My Favourite Outfits | Part Two

As I said in my previous blog post Instagram has been a big part of my life recently. I'm constantly stalking people on it when I say people I mean fashion, beauty and lifestyle based profiles. As well as uploading my own photos I've really taken a sense of pride in how my profile looks now as it has it's own theme which I am really enjoying producing.

This is the second blog post about my recent favourite outfits you can find the first blog post here. I'm going to be again talking about four outfits that I have been loving recently as well as listing where each item of clothing is from.

Day or Night outfit!
This photo does not do this dress justice in the slightest the back has a v cut out and it's gorgeous I love wearing this especially in the Summer. This dress is perfect for the day or evening as it can be dressed up or down with a few accessories. It's also a great transitional dress you could throughout the day by changing different aspects of your make-up or accessories you could easily wear this all day until dawn!!

Dress - Hollister
Boots - New Look

A Day In The Office
I hardly ever curl my hair and I actually prefer my hair when it's curly although it takes forever to actually curl it hence why I hardly do it! This outfit is a perfect outfit for work or sixth form I used to wear it a lot when I went to my old sixth form. It can easily be worn in the Winter or Summer months as you can team it up with a pair of thick tights, a simple black scarf and a warm blazer.

Shirt - H&M
Skirt - H&M
Flats - New Look

A Night Out On The Town
As you guys will know if you have been reading my blog or watching my videos for a long time I rarely go out on the town. When I do this outfit is always one of my go-to outfits as it's really comfortable and I feel very secure and safe when I wear it. I'm always up for wearing just black and white as I think each colour is very flattering.

Playsuit - River Island
Bag - Louis Vuitton
Boots - New Look

A Day Out With The Family
The last outfit in this blog post is one I'd wear on a family day out whether this is just going to a local restaurant or to the cinema. It's a casual look as well as looking like you made an effort. You never know when family photos are going to be taken!! This is the only top I own of this sort and I definitely want to pick up some more this year as I find them really flattering on myself. When the weather gets warmer you can swap the jeans for shorts and the boots for converse which creates a girl next door look.

Top - Primark
Jeans - Primark
Boots - Kurt Geiger
