How To Take Care Of Your Hair During Winter

Hey, guys today I thought that I would write about haircare as I always get compliments on how I keep my hair so healthy. Taking care of your hair during the colder months can be hard and often people don't know what to do. I'm not a hair expert in any kind of way but I know how to keep my hair looking healthy.

1. Protect your hair from the elements
As a commuter I often see women getting onto the train with dripping wet hair. This often confuses me because 1. It's freezing and your hair will take ages to dry & 2. Your clothes will get all wet. Leaving the house with wet hair isn't a sensible move if your hair freezes in the cold then it's easier for the hair to break. I recommend using a hair dryer to blow dry your hair or let it dry naturally inside before leaving the house.

2. Keep hydrated
This may seem like a weird one as we are in the Winter and not Summer. However, keeping hydrated also reflects the health of your hair. Even in the Winter, we need to drink loads of water to stay hydrated. By drinking loads of water, it keeps our scalp hydrated and thus our hair as well.

3. Use hair masks to add extra moisturiser
I like to use hair masks at least once a week especially as the bottom of my hair is slightly dyed. I don't like to use it on my scalp only on the bottom of my hair. I usually apply it while I'm in the bath and leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse it off. If you don't have a bath then you can always put on an old top and apply it while you do some housework or watch some TV.

4. Try not to use a lot of different products
I've always been the type of person who likes to keep their haircare or skincare simple. I don't use too many products at once as I find it's easier to remember to do them when you have fewer things to apply. At the moment I'm using the Maui Moisture Coconut Milk trio for my hair I did a review on the products a couple of months ago which you can find here.

5. Avoid over-styling your hair
I hardly ever use heat tools on my hair unless it's too dry it after my shower or bath. Instead, I have found that you can create many different hairstyles without using heat. You can use hair accessories like this one from Amazon to create cute hairstyles without damaging your hair with hot hair tools.
