Goodbye 2017 | Hello 2018

January 1, 2018

Who would have thought that on the 1st January 2018 that I would be up at 9am. I certainly didn’t my original plans were to go out and get in about 5am but I should have known that wasn’t going to happen as I’m a homely person at heart. Instead, I stayed at home with a friend, ordered a Chinese and watched endless films. We didn’t even go to bed that late it was around 1am I reckon. Today I plan on cleaning and getting ready for the week ahead, baking a birthday cake for one of my colleagues & staying on the sofa watching films.

It does feel really good to wake up early on a Monday morning on the first day of the year to get things done. I’m currently listening to The Greatest Showman’s soundtrack while writing this up. I saw the film on Saturday and it was amazing I highly recommend it! If you haven’t read my Goodbye & Hello blog posts before then I have done one every year for the past three years. I review what happened in the year and set some goals for the year to come. I think that they’re great blog posts to look back on and see what I have achieved in that year.

Goodbye 2016 Hello 2017

Goodbye 2015 Hello 2016

Goodbye 2014 Hello 2015

2017 was an amazing year I did so much. I visited a lot of amazing places and made friends from all over the world. It was a year full of laughter, fun, and love. I’m so lucky to have friends and family who really care about me and support me through everything I do and have done.

Just a few things from this year:

– My anxiety has been good
– I visited France, Italy & Spain
– I turned 21!
– I passed my driving test and got a car
– I finished my apprenticeship
– I went to a really cool PR event
– I watched several amazing movies including Beauty & The Beast & The Greatest Showman

I’m going to be including my favourite blog post from the past year for each month so that you go back and look at them if you haven’t read any. As well as this I will be including some goals that I would like to achieve in 2018.

2017 Blog/YouTube Goals Review:

Reach 150,000 views on my blog  (Only 29,471 views to go)

Have 90,000 views & 4,000 subscribers on my YouTube channel (I have 17,753 views & 1,6700 subscribers to go)

Plan to visit a YouTube convention in 2018 i.e Vidcon or Summer In The City (I haven’t managed to achieve this one this year as I have no plans booked)

Upload at least 3-4 times a week on my blog (I failed at this as there were long periods where I didn’t upload anything due to being super busy with work and life in general)

Work hard on my photography skills (I think I improved a bit which I’m happy with but I still want to learn more)

Take more fashion photos for blog posts and Instagram photos (I definitely took more fashion photos for my Instagram but not my blog)

2017 Personal Review:

Work on my eating issues (I worked on this everytime I went out to eat)

Pass my driving test (Yes I passed in March)

Go to a music festival (Nope)

Date someone (Mmmm that was a long shot)

Spend less money on stupid things that I don’t actually need (I’d say I did cut down but I still bought things I didn’t need)

Keep having a good balance between good and bad foods (Yes)

Learn to speak French again (Nope)

Continue to work on a good balance between work & blogging/YouTube (I tried so hard at this but work and life defeated me last year)

2018 Blog/YouTube Goals:

– Reach 170,000 views on my blog
– Get 90,000 views & 3,000 subscribers on my channel
– Upload 3 times a week on my blog
– Reach 5,000 followers on my Instagram
– Upload at least once a week on my channel
– Attend 2 PR events
– Film a collab with someone in person
– Meet up with 5 people from the blogging world

2018 Personal Goals:

– Have at least £1,000 in my savings account by the end of 2018
– Visit Edinburgh and Hong Kong
– Go on a road trip to Brighton in the Summer
– See more friends who don’t live in London
– Give something back
– Do something different with my hair
– Cook more
