Hey everyone, today I am back with day two of my trip to Florence in January of 2020. For the majority of the day, I was at the trade show again, however, this day was a bit quieter than the day before because it was the last day of the exhibition. I still managed to speak to a few people and had a chance to look around more of the exhibition because it was so big. As it finished on a Friday the exhibition finished around 3 pm because a lot of the companies who owned rented the stalls out already began to pack up.
Once the exhibition was finished I then headed into town for some food because I hadn’t managed to get any lunch. I found this really nice restaurant across from the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore called Il Bottegone which had perfect views of the square in front of the cathedral. I also love to people watch so this was a great spot to eat and just people watch. This time I opted for some tomato pasta which was absolutely delicious. After I had had a bit of a rest which I needed from being on my feet all day I decided to go inside the cathedral as the queue was low and I knew it was going to be beautiful inside. I am so glad that I went inside because it was so amazing the design and hand panting was just spectacular.
I then went back to the hotel for a bit just for a rest but also to take more medication as I was starting to feel a bit under the weather again. On the way back to the hotel, I went into a few shops like Sephora and Disney where I picked up a few things. I always feel like I have to have a look in a Sephora wherever I go if there is one as we don’t have them here in the UK.
After, I had rested for a bit I headed out into town again for some dinner as I was hungry again but also to try and find some souvenirs to give to my family and friends. On the way to dinner, I found a shop which sold souvenirs which was very handy as I managed to pick up quite a few things for people.
I found a really lovely restaurant inside the Piazza della Repubblica which looks so beautiful at night when it is all lit up. They have extensions to the restaurants set up in the Piazza which meant that you could look out onto the square while you were having dinner. This time I opted for a good old margherita pizza which was just as good as all of the other food I had so far on the trip.
It was really nice just to sit and take my time with dinner without having to worry about rushing back or waiting for someone else. After dinner, I took a stroll back to my hotel where I had a shower and settled in for the night after taking more medication. This would be my last night in Florence as I was due to fly home the next evening.
