Hey everyone, so today’s blog post is all about my solo trip to Brighton back in May of this year. As it was my 25th birthday and I had booked the week off work I wanted to fit as many fun things into the week as I could. I have always loved Brighton and hadn’t been in a few years so it seemed like the perfect place to go. I have also been there before so going there by myself didn’t phase me at all.
I made sure to get an early train so that I had the whole day to look around. Unfortunately, as we pulled out of London Victoria station the weather wasn’t that great at all. However, I was hoping that it was a bit brighter in Brighton. I got to Brighton around 10:00 am and headed straight for Nowhere Man which was about a 10-minute walk from the station. I really fancied pancakes so I had looked up a few places before my trip. I was impressed with the pancakes as they were nice and fluffy and definitely freshly made.
After breakfast, I headed towards the pier but first I wanted to walk along the beach. Luckily the weather had brightened up a bit and I was able to spend a bit of time watching the waves. As I grew up by the sea I do enjoy being there and often miss it when I have been in London for a while. I love how close Brighton is to London and that I can go there for the day and be by the sea. Sometimes London can feel quite claustrophobic so it is nice to get out of it every so often.
After spending a bit of time on the beach I headed to the pier to play some of the arcade games. This is definitely something that I wanted to do as I really enjoy them. It was also quite quiet as it was a weekday as the pier can get really busy during the weekend and the school holidays. I didn’t go on any of the rides but it was just nice to walk around and take it all in. Unfortunately, this time I didn’t win anything but I gave it a good go and had a good time.
Once I had spent an hour or so on the pier I decided to get a 99 ice cream and head towards the lanes. I could see that the black clouds were rolling in so I wanted to make sure that I was somewhere I could go into a shop if it did start raining. I took the long way back into town as I wanted to look at the pavilion as well which is a well-known Brighton landmark. I then wandered around the lanes and some of the shops for a bit before heading back to the train station.
I only spent a few hours there as there wasn’t a lot more to see and it looked like it was about to rain a lot so I thought that it was a good time to head home. Luckily just as I got on the train it started to pour with rain. I really enjoyed my day as it was a nice change of scenery and it was nice to visit Brighton when it wasn’t super packed which it often is during the Summer.
