Hey everyone, today’s blog post is a quick recap of what happened earlier this year from January to May. I have a good few blog posts to catch up on before I am posting in real-time however, I am determined to get these done before 2022! (Wish me good luck).
The beginning of 2021 was a bit bleak with the announcement of another lockdown here in the UK. I started the year off with a New Year’s walk in our local area and then headed home to watch movies in bed. January was also the time that I started my 23andMe DNA journey which I am going to do a whole separate blog post about. At the end of January, we were had a couple of days where it snowed quite heavily in West London which is very rare so we made the most of it and went on another walk but this time it was snowy.
We were still in lockdown in February which meant that when I wasn’t working I was mostly just watching Below Deck which I had become obsessed with. If you haven’t seen it then it’s a reality show of the staff who work on superyachts and what they get up to each day as well as who their clients are. It’s definitely a trashy show but I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait for the new season to start.
In March we were allowed to see other people outside which was a welcome change to being inside all of the time. I got to meet one of my good friend’s new puppy Bibby who was so tiny when I met her. It was just nice to see other people in person rather than over teams or a facetime. As we weren’t able to do anything outside of the house for Mother’s day we ordered a Brigit’s Bakery afternoon tea which was delicious.
I made sure to go for a walk each day just to get out of the house and get some fresh air so it was nice to finally see the flowers blooming. I then officially became a plant mum when I bought myself two un-killable plants which are still alive and thriving. I thought that my room needed some greenery and also it would be nice to see how much they grew over time.
April was the month that we finally eased out of lockdown as retail shops opened, bars and restaurants opened outdoors only, and hairdressers and gyms opened. I managed to finally go and see my dad’s side of the family as I hadn’t been able to see them since before Christmas so that was really nice. I also made the most of the restaurants being open again by visiting Borough Market a few times as it was outside and I hadn’t been in a while. We had a virtual burger challenge at work where we had to create our own burger.
Towards the end of April, both Mum and I got our eyebrows done by one of my friends as I had been thinking about getting them micro-bladed for a while because before I basically had no eyebrows. I am really pleased with them and they still look good 8 months later as they are supposed to last around 2 years before you’ll need them re-done.
May was a busy month as at the beginning of the month we still could only do things outside which meant a trip to our local garden center on the weekend was the highlight of our week. Towards the end of May, restrictions eased some more as we were allowed to see people inside, and also venues such as restaurants, pubs, bars, and cinemas all opened up indoors. I also turned 25 which you can read more about here, I had booked the whole week off so I made sure to do a lot of fun things. I still have a few blog posts from around that time to upload.
